In-ears: the band's guide
Most in-ear trouble comes from a musician nobody showed how. Set each person up once, in person, at rehearsal, and give them one page with your church's details filled in.

What's on it
- 1Your set-up, filled in once by the sound team: wired, wireless, personal mixer or phone; the band network; who to signal; and each musician's mix number and pack or user name.
- 2Ten house rules: volume low before the earphones go in, both ears in, tips that seal, only your own mix, "more me" before "more everything", one change at a time, the hand signals, saving the mix, what to do mid-song, and counting the whole week.
- 3Before and after every service: charged packs, checked cables, phones on flight mode with Wi-Fi on, and earphones wiped and put away.
Make it easy for the band
- 1Fill in the top before you copy it. A guide with your own network name and mix numbers gets used; a generic one gets lost.
- 2Set up each musician once, in person, at rehearsal: their own sound first, then what they follow, then a little of the rest.
- 3Check again on their first Sunday, and ask afterwards what was confusing. Change the sheet, not the person.
- 4Making a video too? Film your own stage and your own packs or app, not someone else's.
